With a shared passion for the highest quality drinks production and local history, Warwickshire Gin Co. and Purity Brewing Co. have created this unique Emperor hopped gin, flavoured with the Mediterranean citrus fruit Bergamot and Black Tea. It is made in honour of Purity’s late cofounder Jim Minkin who had a love of Roman history.

Background
AD 47 - Alcester was founded by the Romans in around AD 47 as a walled fort.
2005 – Purity Brewing Company founded just outside Alcester by friends and business partners Paul Halsey and Jim Minkin. Jim’s passion outside of brewing and business is Roman history and in his time off he can be found wandering the local area looking for earthworks that would suggest Roman camps, buildings and roads.
2019 – Dave Blick founds Warwickshire Gin Co to follow his twin passions of high-quality craft gin production and his love of local history, especially around the towns of Leamington and Warwick where his distillery is based. A large part of the business in based in delivering distillery experiences.
2020 – To our great dismay Jim finally loses his battle with Pancreatic Cancer. In his honour our partners and friends at Charles Faram suggest a locally grown hop variety for a beer we brew in his name. Emperor hops resonated with Jim’s love for Roman history and helped add delicious orange citrus notes to Jimbo Best Bitter.
2020 – Covid lockdown prevents Warwickshire Gin Co from delivering the experiences that formed the heart of the business, so Dave creates a one stop shop for collection of his fantastic spirits but also adds Purity beers to his portfolio creating the first relationship between the businesses in those tough times.
2023 – When looking for a Gin partner to add to Purity’s shop experience John Conod approaches Dave at Warwickshire Gin company. The idea of a hopped Gin is mooted and whilst experimenting with the wide variety of hops Purity use it is decided Emperor hops in combination with the Mediterranean and ancient fruit Bergamot deliver the best subtle citrus kick and complex flavour notes to create a unique, quality and exclusive handcrafted Gin
2023 – Emperor Gin is born and the brand is completed by gifted designer Tam to stay loyal to Dave’s history based gins but give a nod to the hoppy, Purity twist.
