Easter weekend is fast approaching, and if you’re like us you’re probably starting to plan your menu.
From chocolate eggs to the traditional roast dinner, we’ve hand-picked the best and freshest Purity beer to match with your weekend.
Good Friday Fish & Chips
Lots us enjoy fish and chips on a Friday night but eating fish on Good Friday is an Easter tradition stems from a religious of avoiding eating meat on a Friday. Whether religious or not, you can’t beat a portion of beer battered cod or a vegan alternative. Going to the chip shop or your favourite pub? We think Lawless lager would be the perfect pairing because of it’s sharp, citrusy kick from the dash of hops.
Hot Cross Buns
Like fish and chips, Hot Cross Buns are rooted in religious tradition, and also like fish and chips they’re a fantastic snack at this time of year whether you’re religious or not. We love ours lightly toasted and with butter melting on the surface and with a side of Kveik NEIPA. As a New England style IPA, Kveik is less bitter than standard IPAs and will complement the buttery and raisin bun.
Beer for Brunch
The bank holiday weekend is the perfect excuse for a late, long and leisurely vegan brunch with plenty of veggies. For a brunch with spinach, tomatoes, garlic, mushrooms and more we’d partner with Bunny Hop. It’s a vegan hazy pale with a 3.5% low ABV and an increased percentage of oats.
Classic Roast With Spring Lamb
Easter wouldn’t be Easter without classic roast spring lamb with rosemary, garlic, seasonal veg and plenty of potatoes. For a dish like this, we’d pair it with a light and refreshing golden ale like Pure Gold. It has a dry and bitter finish and is generously hopped. The well balanced flavour will complement the lamb perfectly.
An Easter weekend food matching wouldn’t be completed without the perfect beer to partner with chocolate. Whether you’re a fan of milk, dark or vegan chocolate, we like to pair ours with Fixie, our hybrid coffee stout. Fixie is brewed in partnership with Monsoon Coffee in Stratford upon Avon, it’s rich in colour with oak and chocolate tones. Complementary to Easter eggs, you’ll find Fixie bold and expertly balanced.
