International Brewing Awards Trophy Winners 2019

Purity Brewing Co. is toasting international success again as the Warwickshire Brewer picked up a highly coveted trophy at this year’s International Brewing Awards Luncheon held at the Guildhall in London last night.

Director of Brewing Flo Vialan attended the ceremony in London expecting to collect the Gold Medal for Longhorn IPA and Bronze Medal for Saddle Black Purity won earlier in the year. However, there was a further pleasant surprise to come. As the overall champion winners were announced Purity’s Longhorn IPA which is named after the herd of cattle that feed on the brewery’s spent grain was named the overall Keg Ale Champion beating stiff competition from breweries across the UK and the world.

The International Brewing Awards are renowned across the industry as the very highest of standards, encouraging innovation and highlighting the best beers in the world. Winning a championship trophy is seen within the brewing industry as quite the coup considering elite brewers that enter.

The judging line up and process is unique within the industry. What differentiates the International Brewing Awards group is the unifying thread that the judging panel is made up entirely of commercially active industry professionals.

The stellar international panel see judges coming from as far and wide as Scandinavia in the north to New Zealand in the south and Japan in the east to countries across the Americas. This is the oldest beer and cider awards still running in the world. Its origins are based around the industry professionals of the day gathering to assess an array of entries and to reward the quality and commercial worth of the beer.

Founded on a working farm in 2005, Purity has gone from strength-to-strength over the years, with a broad range of beers and an array of national and international brewing awards. The brewery now employs over 40 people and has expanded its sales regions as far as Nottingham, Stoke-on-Trent, Bristol and London.

The Warwickshire based brewer also supports a range of local sports teams, music festivals and other regional events, as well as being an official partner of Wasps Rugby and Ricoh Arena.

Purity’s Founder & CEO, Paul Halsey, said: “Wow! What an unbelievable way to start the summer. We’re absolutely delighted and extremely proud of this achievement to be recognised on an international stage.”

He continued “Longhorn IPA is one of our most exciting beers and to see this winning the overall keg ale competition is brilliant. Since we launched the beer back in 2014 Longhorn has fast become a firm favourite and we are incredibly proud of how it has become an established staple on bars across Warwickshire. Huge thanks to our Puritans for their continual support of our business and of course, our beer!” Paul also noted “This is a real testament to Flo our Director of Brewing and the rest of the brew team. The skill and dedication they put into every pint of Purity is second to none and we are all incredibly proud to see this recognised on an international stage and voted the best amongst some truly excellent competition and great beers.”

Off the back of the recent success for Longhorn IPA both at the International Brewing Awards and SIBA Brewing Awards Purity has made its award winning keg ale now permanently available in cask.
