In the very early days we wanted to produce a beer that would lure people away from lagers by creating a golden ale that could be served refreshingly cool, have a clean crisp flavour and sessionable ABV. Pure Gold was born and provides that great refreshing pint.

As well as attracting new drinkers to the cask category it became a talking point among beer aficionados for its modernist take on the traditional gold or blond ale.

The cockerel logo evokes the early starts our brewers make in order to brew Pure Quality into every pint.

Purity Gold is my favourite ale. If I’m in Birmingham I go to the Purity Kitchen and Bar. As I’ve moved to Staffordshire I decided to buy bottles but I do find them too gassy for me. I have tried the mini keg but they have to be consumed once opened which is not always convenient. So I open the bottle and leave them in the fridge for a couple of days. They’re ok
